Case studies of iconic textile designers

WEEK 2: Surface Design Techniques
Manual Techniques

Block printing, tie & dye, batik

Embroidery types and placement

Digital Techniques

Photoshop & Illustrator basics for textile design

Repeat patterns and motif creation

Activities:

Create one hand-printed sample

Design one digital repeat pattern

WEEK 3: Fabric Knowledge & Trends
Fabric Analysis

Woven, knit & non-woven fabrics

Properties and usability in various contexts

Design Trends

Current market trends (India & global)

Sustainability in textile design

Activities:

Fabric swatch study report

Trend board creation

WEEK 4: Industry Tools & CAD
Introduction to Industry Software

NedGraphics / Textronics / CorelDRAW

Virtual prototyping

Workflow Practice

Tech pack creation

Communication with production teams

Activities:

Create a tech pack for a selected design

Digital swatch presentation

WEEK 5: Live Project & Client Interaction
Project Execution

Assigned live design project (e.g., home furnishing, ethnic wear, etc.)

Concept to prototype workflow

Professional Communication

How to present to clients

Email etiquette & design file submission

Activities:

Work on one assigned product line

Mid-internship review

WEEK 6: Review, Presentation & Feedback
Final Portfolio Presentation

3 complete design concepts (manual & digital)

Moodboard + Techpack + Sample visualization
